“So enormous, so dreadful, so irremediable did the Trade’s wickedness appear that my own mind was completely made up for Abolition. Let the consequences be what they would, I from this time determined that I would never rest until I had effected its abolition.” -William Wilberforce
The tragedy of slavery is not just in the chains, but in the scars. Nothing we can do can turn back time, but what we can do is heal what has been done. Slaves need not just the key to the locks which bind them; they need physical spiritual, and emotional healing through love, understanding, attention, and education. Since so many slaves held captive today are children, many have missed years of school, all have suffered irreparable trauma, both emotionally and spiritually.
Redeem the Shadows seeks not just to place a band aid on their wounds, but to treat, care, and repair those who have been set free. Our dream is to have clinics both in the United States and India to help restore the victims of this horrific act through three areas of one’s being: physical, emotional, and spiritual. We desire to educate both children and adults in skills they can use to create a sustainable income so that they might never face the possibility of prostitution or being sold again. Slavery is a wretched thing, but through your fighting and our mobilization, we can provide and support their rehabilitation. Please contact us if you have any further questions about our proposed Rehabilitation Clinics. Let us not rest until we have affected the abolition of millions who are held captive.
